Adoption of Digital Literacy Strategy on Academic Progress of Private University Education in ......
As a result of the spread of coronavirus, the global higher education environment has changed drastically in the last few months. Because of the pandemic's widespread spread, learners' and teachers' mobility has been severely restricted. The government's decision to close universities in Kenya in order to prevent the spread of the disease has been a major setback for the education sector. As a result, the government encouraged university administrators to use virtual academic platforms to implement a digital literacy strategy. The effectiveness of this policy has not been universal across Kenyan universities. Following the closing up, academic programmes at most universities have remained stagnant. The goal of this study was to see how the implementation of the COVID-19 digital literacy strategy influenced the academic success of Kenyan private university students. The goal of this research was to determine the influence of e-learning on academic success in Kenyan private university education. The data for this analysis was collected using a descriptive research design to test the research questions and hypotheses about the relationship between the study variables. The study's target population included all 207 students at Umma University's Garissa Campus. Then, using systematic sampling, a sample size of 137 respondents was selected. Structured self-administered questionnaires with a 5-likert scale were used to collect primary data. The information obtained was analysed in conjunction with the study's goals. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were analysed using SPSS version 24. To determine the relationship between the study's variables, an analysis of variance and a linear regression analysis were used. This study's hypothesis was checked with a confidence level of 0.05. The study discovered a positive significant relationship between e-learning and university academic growth. The results of this study will help university administrators develop strategies to improve virtual learning in all institutions of higher learning. All universities should implement digital literacy initiatives, according to the report, to ensure learning continuity in the event of a pandemic in the region.
