Assessment of Groundwater Potentials at Ishielu L. G. A. of Ebonyi State, Nigeria| Asian Journal....
The survey's overall goal is to identify saturation zones in the research area in order to construct an electric-powered underground water plan that will improve people's living standards. Groundwater potentials were assessed at three locations in the Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, using the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) method. The results are broken down into five geological layers: laterite, dry clay, weathered shale formation, and weathered mudstone lithologies; the weathered formations act as an aquifer, with resistivity values ranging from 160.2 to 1246.0m and thicknesses ranging from 16.9 to 35.7m. The saturation zone is found at a depth of 77.43 metres. To accommodate a pressure pump, the fractionating zones within this saturation zone are porous. The overall conclusion is that drilling a borehole on the saturation zones for maximal yield at the specified locations has a 70% chance of success. Because the subsurface is consolidated and compacted, downhole drilling is highly suggested in this area.
