Characterization and Evaluation of New Sunflower Genotypes

The current inspection was planned to distinguish the sunflower accessions based on DUS descriptors and to determine the level of historical variability for sunflower genotypes. Thirty-three sunflower genotypes containing checks were morphologically characterized utilizing Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority (PPV& FRA) and other descriptors during rabi2021-22 at the area of Genetics and Plant Breeding, ITM University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. The analysis of difference revealed significant dissimilarities among the sunflower genotypes, suggesting genotypes sickened variability. Various semantic characters were studies which revealed good extent of alternative among genotypes. Large alternative was recorded for strip colour and for ray small flower colour differentiation that can utilize to identify the genotype at children stage and at flowering stage and can serve as semantic markers to identify the accessions. Genotypes accompanying black distorted seedviz., GMU-837, GMU-934, GMU-78, and GMU-55 can be applyied for the development of breeding material and peoples. All of the characteristics substitute recorded larger phenotypic cooperative of variation (PCV) than genotypic cooperative of variation (GCV), that implies that environmental influence was more in their verbalization. High heritability along with hereditary advance was observed for by plant climax and days to maturity, which displays selection of these characteristics at early generation would be persuasive.
