Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) and Other External Factors as Determinants of Accommodation and.....

The aim of this study is to see how the corona virus disease, as well as other external factors, affect the growth of accommodation and restaurant services (ARS) in Kenya.

The study used a quantitative research design with quarterly time series data from the first quarter of 2014 to the first quarter of 2020. Kenya's National Bureau of Statistics provided the data set (KNBS).

Methodology: To analyse improvements in the growth of accommodation and restaurant facilities, the researchers used unregulated vector autoregression.

COVID-19, technical, administrative, and support facilities, construction, and past ARS growth at 1 to 3 lags all negatively influence ARS growth in Kenya, according to the findings. Real estate rise, time trend, tax on goods, other services, education, manufacturing, information and communication, and past growth in the ARS sector at lag 4 all have a positive impact on the ARS sector's growth. It was also noted that growth in agriculture, transportation, and storage have no impact on ARS growth in Kenya.

Conclusion: The key determinants for the growth of ARS in Kenya are COVID-19, technical, administrative, and support services, construction and past ARS growth, real estate growth, time trend, tax on goods, other services, education, manufacturing, information, and communication.
