Design and Development of a Modernized Cassava Grating Machine

Aim: To help the production rate of a scraping machine through careful modifications to the design requirements of the existing individual. The objective of the study was to cultivate a modernized cassava grating system with a extreme-performance rate and high-quality manufacturing at a minimum time and inexpensive cost.Study Design: The mesh surface area and the option of proper construction matters were the two meaningful areas thought-out for modification. Stainless steel was preferred for fabricating the drum, punctured sheet, hopper, and rod due to allure reliability, endurance, and resistance to corrosion.Place and Duration: Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, 'tween August 2020 and October 2022Methodology: Detailed design drawings of the vehicle components were fatigued with Solidworks 2019. The machine parts were machined and massed. We used an energetic motor of 1hp and 1450rpm to transmit a turn of 4.94Nm that caused turning motion on the shaft for effective and effective meshing of the cassava roots.Results: The depiction analysis displayed that the large mesh surface area considerably affects the pulp's result rate. The larger the mesh surface, the best the quantity of cassava roots to mesh into pulp. The result rate of the modified irritating machine was found expected 454.55kg/hr. and the time sustained while meshing 100kg of cassava roots was 0.05 hours distinguished to the existing ones. The result presented that the machine has optimum performance and produces the destined quality in a reduced period with an effectiveness of 95.12%.Conclusion: Construction of the machine was completed activity with improved design qualifications. A careful option of construction materials helps to realize the stated goals. We recommend this appliance to all homes for domestic use by way of its staying power, reliability, affordability, opposition to corrosion, and ability to mesh a big quantity of cassava ancestries in a reduced time.
