Effect of Group Work in Addressing the Misconceptions of Light | Asian Journal of Research and .....
Physics is a science that decides how people live and how they live. However, there are several misunderstandings in the definitions. The influence of group work and conventional approaches on Class IX students' misconceptions about light is explored in this report. The thesis employed an explanatory sequential mixed process. It was carried out in one of Trashigang district's Middle Secondary Schools [MSS]. The participants in this study were 42 students in Class IX and five science teachers. Multiple choice questions were used as a pre-test and post-test with descriptions to collect data. To back up the quantitative results, a semi-structured interview was conducted.
The results showed that students in the experimental group were more effective than those in the control group in correcting the misunderstanding about light. In the post test result, the independent t-test revealed a substantial difference in terms of mean score (p0.05). The study's findings show that the null hypothesis is false. In comparison to conventional teaching and learning methods, the results show that group practise is successful in correcting light misconceptions.
