Effect of Organic Fertilization and Amino Acids on Growth, Chemical Composition and Capsaicin ...
The effect of organic fertilisers and foliar sprays of amino acid on vegetative growth, fruit yield, chemical composition, and capsaicin content of hot pepper (Capsicum annum L var. Minimum) plants was studied in a private farm in Samannoud district, El-Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, over two seasons in 2017 and 2018. At rates of 60 and 30 N-units per fed, the experiment included 13 treatments made from cattle manure. In addition to the treatment of NPK at recommended dose as a control, chicken fertiliser at rates of 60 and 30 N-units per fed was combined with amino acid at 0, 100, and 200 ppm, as well as chicken fertiliser at rates of 60 and 30 N-units per fed was combined with amino acid at 0, 100, and 200 ppm. A three-replicate total randomised block design was used.
The obtained results revealed that plants treated with cattle manure full dose + 200 ppm amino acids had the highest values for vegetative growth parameters, fruit yield, chemical composition, and capsaicin content, followed by plants treated with chicken manure full dose + 200 ppm amino acids. When applied to organic fertilisation, whether cow manure or chicken fertiliser, at a concentration of 100 or 200 ppm, amino acids had a significant impact. Based on the previous findings, spraying amino acids (glycine and glutamine) at a rate of 200 ppm in combination with organic fertilisers at a rate of 60 nitrogen units per feddan may result in the highest fruit yield, Vitamin C, and capsaicin content of hot peppers.
