Epidemiological Assessment and Challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria | Microbiology .......

The COVID-19 virus, which belongs to the coronaviridae family, has spread in a geometric progression. The disease, which originated in Wuhan, Hubei, China, has spread to all of the world's continents except Antarctica. As of August 5, 2020, there have been over 18 million COVID-19 cases recorded from 214 countries and territories around the world. Over 10 million people have recovered, while 696,147 people have died as a result of COVID-19. This analysis offers general details on COVID-19 and delves into the disease's progression, intervention issues, and potential remedies in Nigeria, Africa's "giant." Science Direct, Pub Med, Elsevier, Scopus, and Nature were all used to search scientific databases. Case reports, journal articles, internet data, World Health Organization (WHO) reports, Centers for Disease Control (CDCs), and Nigerian Centres for Disease Control (NCDCs) reports have all been used to gather information. Clinicaltrials.gov, a service of the US National Library of Medicine, was used to find out about current clinical trials. The literature review began the first week of April, 2020, and ended the first week of August, 2020. COVID-19 patients' clinical symptoms are usually classified as serious, extreme, moderate, mild, or even asymptomatic, in descending order of severity. Experts from all over the world have predicted that the epidemic would have a negative effect on Africa, which is due to a number of obvious causes, including inadequate health facilities and services.
