Evaluation of Income and Postharvest Losses of Yam in Southern Agricultural Zone of Nasarawa State..
From 2014 to 2018, the study looked at the income and postharvest losses of yam in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.Cross-sectional architecture was used in this analysis. Between October 2019 and June 2020, the research was carried out in the Nigerian state of Nasarawa.A total of 387 respondents were surveyed for the study, and data was obtained using a multistage sampling technique.The majority of the respondents (322) were male, and 158 (41%) were in the age bracket of 31-40 years, followed by 97 (25%) in the age bracket of 41-50 years. 323 (84%) of the respondents were married, with an average household size of 8.0 people, and 87 percent of the respondents had had one type of cancer. a formal education or a non-formal education The spearman correlation matrix, which shows the relationship between farmer income and postharvest losses, also revealed that there is a significant relationship between yam farmers' income and postharvest losses in the studied region.The R square coefficient of determination was 0.922, with a P value of 0.00.The findings reveal a significant and strong positive relationship between farmer income and post-harvest losses.
The study concluded that the majority of the respondents had a high income but suffered post-harvest losses in different ways in the yam production chain.The size of the losses varies from farmer to farmer, but not across the study area's sampled populations.
