This paper examines the idea of drilling mud corrosion by highlighting the primary corrosion forms, mechanisms, and management strategies connected with drilling activities. Fatigue stress failures (stress corrosion fatigue and Sulphide stress cracking) were discussed, as well as several processes that may increase susceptibility to fatigue stress failure and other types of corrosion. Drilling mud corrosion cannot be completely eliminated, hence management measures are necessary. Corrosion monitoring and control, quality control, effective inspection techniques, improved drill pipe manufacturing processes, and an optimised experimental data base on drilling mud corrosion behaviour and the operational environment are among them.
