Growth of Millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] and Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) Plants..
This study looked into the effects of water stress on millet and sorghum plant development. In Petri dishes, grains were germinated for 7 days. Plants were harvested and transplanted into pots 60 times per species. They were given 100 mL of water for 6 days before being split into four groups, each with four treatments (100, 50, 25 and 10 ml). Water stress reduced the size of both plant species and the number of leaves produced, while root system growth was observed. Millet plants were more susceptible to the depressive effects of water stress than sorghum plants. As a result, millet is more vulnerable to drought than sorghum.
