Hemorrhagic Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy – A Case Report and Literature Review | Asian .....
In light of the new Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, we want to study the etiological investigation and differential diagnosis of PRES, including viral infectious diseases. A vital patient with hemorrhagic PRES and nephropathy was the subject of our case study. PRES (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome) is an acute neurological syndrome that can present with a wide range of symptoms and is often linked to hypertension, sepsis, eclampsia, autoimmune disorders, immunosuppressive treatment, or infectious diseases. A connection between hemorrhagic PRES and COVID-19 was recently discovered. The cause of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is unclear, but the vasogenic brain edoema can be explained by one of two theories. Brain vasogenic edoema in the subcortical white matter and cerebral cortex of the parieto-occipital lobes is a common imaging pattern. PRES has no definite cure, however it is reversible if the predisposing factor is recognised and addressed.
