Honeybee Flora for Commercial Beekeeping in Manipur, India

Beekeeping, alternatively known as apiculture is a lucrative trade providing supplementary or big income to the people in country areas. Honey has certain energy benefits, with allure nutritional composition carefully similar to fruits and is a normal sweetener. Honeybees are also a good pollinator and gives treasured products to a degree beewax, propolis, bee venom, etc. However, for marketing beekeeping, selection of bee variety is very important and for yearlong flow of honey, a beekeeper endure know the flora chosen by the bees for each seasons. The present study revealed that, out of the total 161 plant class identified, which is frequented the honeybees (Apis cerana and Apis mellifera) for nectar and irritant, maximum plant species belong to the relating to plants crops (33%) followed by the rowdy plants and forest trees (29%); and decorative plants and avenue shrubs (28%). The least (10%) was recorded in not urban crops.
