Impact Assessment of Cluster Front Line Demonstration (CFLDs) on Popularization of Toria Cultivation

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat transported five hundred fifty Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on toria top 577 nos. of heir in 32 villages at two development blocks of Majuli precinct of Assam during 2015-16 to 2020-21. The study was attended to study the impact of Cluster Front Line Demonstrations conducted by KVK, Jorhat on socio-business-related condition, technology maintenance and technology gap, enactment pattern of the improved electronics among benefits and non-beneficiaries of the precinct. The results showed that the Cluster Front Line Demonstrations of the new electronics increased crop yield and pay after deductions of the participating peasants from toria cultivation. The average yield of toria sorts under the demonstration was 1007 kg/ha as distinguished to 674 kg/ha in the farmers practices. The best mean yield of toria under the technology explained was 1057 kg/ha and the lowest was 956 kg/ha. The mean electronics gap (TG), enlargement gap (EG) and science index (TI) was 1.93 q/ha, 3.32 q/ha and 16.12 percent respectively that indicates need for bettering of the extension duties in educating the growers for dissemination and endorsement of the improved sciences. Lower technology index in the study displays the efficient act of the technology. The science index has reduced from 17.67% to 12.67% from the period 2016-17 to 2020-21 which signifies the adoption in addition to feasibility of the science demonstrated at part specific farmers’ field. The mean gross return (Rs.32, 617.60/ha), net return (Rs. 16,636.00/ha), supplementary return (Rs. 10,764.52/ha) and benefit cost ratio (1.97) were raise higher under enhanced technology showed as compared to laborers practice. Thus, higher benefit cost percentage proved financial feasibility of the revised technology displayed in both the blocks of Majuli locality of Assam.
