Impacts of Acquired Iron Deficiency on Adolescent Health | European Journal of Nutrition & Food Safe
Adolescence is a time of growth and physical and emotional development during which it is required, among other things, to consume enough nutrients in adequate quantity and quality to meet all of the organism's needs. Adolescents' nutritional status must be controlled during this period of nutritional insecurity to prevent a lack of micronutrients from interfering with their complete growth and development. Iron is a vital micronutrient for humans, and a lack of it can cause a number of physical and emotional issues that can make it difficult to maintain healthy health. This article discusses the features of adolescent growth and development, as well as the effects of acquired iron deficiency during the second decade of life, which can have long-term consequences. It also suggests ways to avoid or mitigate this adolescent nutritional epidemic.
