Knowledge and Awareness towards Emergency Response Preparedness among Large Worship Centres in South
Appropriate information and awareness are essential in disaster preparation and alleviation practices to ensure their influence. The study assessed the information and awareness towards emergency answer preparedness with large worship centres in the South-South domain of Nigeria. Churches with large places capacity (>1500), signifying large weekend attendance of no inferior (1000) congregants that cut across Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Edo states, were picked for the study. With the aid of a questionnaire and explanatory statistics, we collected and analysed the dossier for the study respectively. The consequence showed that 72.7% of the accused agreed, “Emergency preparedness and trouble response include an adequate plan for fear that an occurrence". The worship centres indicated they were careful (60.1%) for emergency occurrences with able knowledge about various crises (60.1%). The findings told that worship centres had not witnessed hazardous occurrences recently (58.5%) and seen electrical damage (53.5%) as ultimate common emergency at the centres. Mechanical misstep (49.1%) was indicated as the basic cause of emergency at the centres, and most accused to emergencies are volunteers. Overall, skilled was adequate information and awareness about danger response preparedness practices between the worship centres. The study recommended the need for worship centres to cultivate a common, effective, coordinated multi-sectoral approach comprising all-hazard and hazard-distinguishing measures to ensure readiness for all types of emergencies.
