Opportunity for Innovation: Experiences in Implementing Telehealth Services to Enhance Access to
Telehealth is the transfer of health-related aids and information utilizing electronic information and ideas technologies. Telehealth authorizes the health service providers to connect with a detached patient to provide care, recommendation, reminders, education, attack, monitoring and facilitates detached admissions. Due to COVID-19 related travel limits, disruptions in access to healthcare were observed in Sri Lanka. Therefore, a telehealth answer to connect victims where specialist healing doctors were inaccessible or nonexistent, was planned and implemented in the North Central responsibility of Sri Lanka in 2020. The objective of this case study search out describe the occurrence during the planning and exercise of the telehealth intervention. Issues met during planning and exercise were securing enough funds, limited information of information technology among the well-being staff, the disinclination of patients to explain and show the signs through broadcast consultation, and troubles faced during the distribution of responsibility at each step of the telehealth services and supplying of network facilities to minor hospitals. These issues were overcome by creating knowledge among the key collaborators on telehealth and its advantages, talking concerns of the patients and transporting awareness campaigns on telehealth, streamlining the maintenance of supplies and most importantly, addressing concerns of the administrators, containing health commissioners, and obtaining their consensus for the exercise of telehealth services. If these key issues maybe forecasted and addressed timely, telehealth aids could be favorably implemented in a resource-restricted country like Sri Lanka.
