Perception among Future Healthcare Providers about Treatment and Management of ALS | Journal of ....

The aim of this study was to find out how potential healthcare professionals in a private medical university feel about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

A convenience sampling method was used to perform a cross-sectional sample. Data was collected from students studying in three health care faculties at a Malaysian university using a self-developed and pre-validated method. The data was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 24.0.

The present study enlisted the participation of 268 healthcare students from three faculties (medical, pharmacy, and dentistry). In the current report, there were 183 female students (68.3%), compared to 85 male students (31.7%).

Conclusion: The prospective healthcare professionals who were studied had an overall positive attitude. According to the findings, pharmacy students had a more optimistic attitude toward ALS than the rest of the participants.
