Policy Brief: Ending Open Defecation in Nigeria | International Journal of TROPICAL DISEASE & Health
This paper is intended to serve as a policy brief on reducing open defecation in Nigeria. The briefing discusses the burden of open defecation (OD) in Nigeria, its causes, the impact of OD practises, successes to date, as well as failures, and offers recommendations to end the practise in order to meet the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.2 of ending open defecation globally by 2030.

Strong political will to maintain and implement sanitary policies
More latrines are being constructed.
forming a surveillance team
Increasing capacity
Job creation that is long-term
Communication strategy has been improved.
