Suitability of Oyster Mushroom Species for Cultivation in the Southern Zone of Andhra Pradesh | ..

Pleurotus florida, Pleurotus eous, and Hypsizygus ulmarius were studied in late kharif and rabi seasons for their biological efficiency (BE) and net returns from the rupee invested (NRRI). In both seasons, the BE and NRRI of P. florida and H. ulmarius were comparable to and substantially superior to P. eous. The current study confirmed that P. floridaand H. ulmarius are suitable for cultivation in the late kharif and rabi seasons, while P.ous is suitable for cultivation in the summer and early kharif seasons. As a result, the idea of yearround mushroom production is promoted by the seasonspecific collection of oyster mushroom species.
