The Study of Ethnobotanical Uses by Local Healers in Taktse Chiwog from Central Bhutan | Asian .....

The aim is to record the ethnobotanical uses of local healers in Taktse Chiwog (Village Blocks).


Study Design: The Chiwog official approved the semi-structured and direct interviews before they were performed. Due to their popularity and experience with medicinal plants in their region, two local healers/informants were contacted for interviews prior to field visits.


Between July and October 2019, the analysis was conducted in Taktse Chiwog, Trongsa Dzongkhag, Bhutan.


Methodology: Based on their ethnomedical expertise, two local healers were established. Multiple methods were used to collect information on medicinal use/s using questionnaires, including botanical inventories, plant specimen collection, semi-structured and direct interviews with local healers, as well as free listing (FL) and preference rating (PR).


Eighty people participated in the survey. The ethno medicinal uses of two plant species from forty-nine families by local healers against various ailments and diseases were registered.


Conclusion: According to this report, most medicinal plants found in the area are widely used by healers to treat various diseases, dislocations, and fractures of the musculoskeletal system.
