The Upsurge of Farm Mechanization and Its Impact on Land Occupancy System in Nigeria | Journal of ..

Stakeholders' re-energized approach to farm mechanisation has sparked new fears in Nigeria's current relationship between mechanised agriculture and conventional land occupation systems. Cropland growth was boosted by the increased importation of agricultural machines into the country, which butted in farm lands acquired by rural farmers by traditional means. This paper is divided into four parts that look at these fears. The first section investigates Nigeria's insecure land tenure regimes, which have revealed an elegant balance between constitutions and conventional actions. The second observes the growing importance of tractors and the acceptance of agricultural mechanisation. The third examines the various fears that arise when mechanisation overshoots on historically secure lands, which are exacerbated by population growth. These fears lead to labour trafficking, constant land seizures, and the enslavement of poor farmers in a vacuum with little business options. To help ease these concerns, the final section suggests restricting the growth of large agricultural machines and developing land occupation systems on a systematic basis in preparation for further privatisation. The ecosystems in Nigeria will live for more judicious evolution if land occupation systems and farm mechanisation are combined.
